Lip Augmentation
There are different fillers or surgical methods to improve the appearance of your lips. These methods may also reduce fine lines and wrinkles around your lips.

Who is the best candidate for lip augmentation?
You must be in good general health. You might not be a good candidate for lip augmentation if you have labial herpes, scarring, or certain diseases such as lupus, connective tissues disorders, or blood clotting problems.

Good candidates for lip augmentation are those who have realistic expectations of the outcome. Injections or implants can enhance and improve your natural look.
Certain conditions or diseases may increase your chances of complications, such as blood clots, diabetes, or poor circulation. If you are a smoker, this may also be a complicating factor.
INJECTABLE FILLERS (options 1 & 2):
Lip augmentation is performed on an outpatient basis in your doctor’s office and you will be sent home the same day. Your doctor may use local anesthesia to make you more comfortable during the injection of the filler. The local anesthetic may be topical (applied to the skin) or injected prior to the procedure.
1. Restylane
What is Restylane: This is a clear gel used to increase volume in the lips. It contains hyaluronic acid (a complex sugar naturally found in the body), so there’s little chance for an allergic reaction.
Drawbacks: Your body will absorb it within about six months of the injection.
2. Juvaderm
What is Juvederm? Smooth long lasting dermal gel filler contains hyaluronic compound (a complex sugar naturally found in the body like Restylane but lasts much longer.)
Benefits: Biosynthetic sugar naturally found in our body with very little chance of allergic reaction.
Drawbacks: Lasts up to one year but not permanent.
3.Fat grafting
What is fat grafting: This is the surgical method of inserting your own fat into your lips to achieve the desired fullness.
Benefits: Because it’s your own fat, there is very small chance of a reaction.
Drawback: Although there is a chance that some of the fat will stay permanently that amount of survival is very unpredictable and the procedure may need to be repeated more than once. This is a real surgical procedure. Local flap grafts may require a longer incision and sutures inside the mouth.
In my opinion Juvederm Ultra is the best treatment option for lip augmentation with very low risk of complications, easily performed in doctor’s office only by injections and may last up to one year.
