What is Retinol?
Retinol is a active Vitamin A. Another synthetic form of Vitamin A is tretinoin better known as Retin-A®. Vitamin A penetrates the outer layers of the skin and work to repair the lower layers of the skin where collagen and elastin reside. This allows it to repair and stimulate collagen and elastin, creating firmer, smoother skin. Retinol is a good alternative for those with sensitive skin who cannot tolerate tretinoin. ”Retin-A®.”

Derivatives of vitamin A, (retinol )work to increase cell turnover and exfoliation by stimulating cell production underneath the skin. This process slows down with age. The acceleration of cell turnover caused by the use of retinol or tretinoin will encourage the exfoliation of these dead skin cells and allow healthier cells to appear. Skin will appear smoother, softer; pores will appear smaller and less noticeable; and signs of aging will start to diminish. Studies have also found that this cell rejuvenation produces healthier skin cells. The new skin cells stimulated by use of vitamin A start to more closely resemble the younger, healthier skin cells of our youth. Use of Retinol has also been shown to stimulate new collagen production that leads to improvement of fine wrinkles.

What are hyaluronic acid and Anti oxidants:

7. Bleaching Agents:

Hydroquinone lightens the color of the skin pigmentation/melanin (dark spots ) applied by killing off the melanin making cells (known as the melanocyte). It is the only FDA approved product for bleaching. It does this for about 60-70% of its users. Its 4% Hydroquinone concentration can provide results in as little as four weeks. Any hydroquinone products available without requiring a prescription cannot have more than 2% hydroquinone. Medical researchers have established that 70% of patients who use skin creams containing high amounts (4% or more) of Hydroquinone for an extended period of time (one-three years) develop Exogenous Ochronosis, "an irreversible disfiguring cosmetic problem". Cosmetic Ochronosis (also known as Exogenous Ochronosis) was first described by Findlay and his group of researchers in 1975. This group found that the continued use of HQ based skin bleaching products lead to a progressive discoloration of the skin. This problem is mostly limited to very dark skin types.

When using Hydroquinone, it is imperative to stay out of the sun for the treatment to work. Always wear full spectrum sunblock and a hat. Exposure to sun deteriorates the hydroquinone, rendering it ineffective

Kojic Acid was first discovered in Japan in 1907 and is used as an alternative to hydroquinone. Kojic Acid has the same mechanism of action as hydroquinone. Research shows Kojic Acid to be an effective lightening agent that inhibits the production of melanin (brown pigment). It is widely consumed in the Japanese. Kojic Acid is less irritating than hydroquinone.

Ascorbic acid or vitamin C is a less potent bleaching agent. We use this vitamin compounded with Kojic acid and Hydroquinone as a complex bleaching pad for treatment of skin dark spots or hyperpigmentation. We also use lactic acid or natural sour milk product to enhance the penetration of this complex bleaching agents. Our bleaching compound is the most effective way to treat hyperpigmentation.

8. Acid peel products:

Alpha-hydroxy acids are naturally occurring acids, derived from the sugars in particular plants. Some examples are Glycolic Acid (Sugar Cane), Lactic Acid (Milk), Citric Acid (Citrus Fruits). These acids work at the very base of the stratum corneum, dissolving the cement that holds dead skin cells together. This increases cell turnover and influences the structure of new stratum corneum being made. This results in skin that is more flexible, more smooth, and more even in tone. At greater concentrations (12%-20%), deeper dermal effects, such as higher amounts of mucopolysaccharides (Hyaluronic acid) and collagen and increased skin thickness, are observed. Eventually, acid peel will produce skin that is softer, smoother, less wrinkled, less dehydrated, and more even in skin tone.

Salicylic Acid is a beta hydroxy acid derived from the bark of the willow tree ( a derivative of aspirin). Beta hydroxy acids have a larger molecule than their cousin, alpha hydroxy acids. The larger molecule size keeps the beta hydroxy acid on the surface of the skin allowing it to more effectively penetrate and exfoliate within the pore. This action within the pores make it an ideal exfoliant for use on acne and acne-prone skin. Salicylic acid also is a very effective anti-inflammatory agent that makes this agent an ideal treatment for management of inflammatory Acne.

9. Sunscreens:

SPF 58 Water proof non oily sunscreen is mineral based, utilizing ultra-micronized titanium dioxide and zinc oxide as its approved active sunscreen ingredients. It is free of dyes, fragrance and is "chemical sunscreen free" (some individuals experience skin sensitivity due to chemical sunscreen filters). This sunscreen is excellent for pediatric use as well as for adults with sensitive skin. It offers significant water-resistant properties making it ideal for all outdoor activities. This SPF58 sunscreen is elegant and highly protective for daily use, leaving the skin soft, smooth and UVA/UVB protected. It is oil, PABA and fragrance free!

We use lactic acid or natural sour milk products in our cleansers. Our foam cleanser is one of the most effective treatments for acne.
